Kona area

Today we will finish the Kona area and then move up the the northern part of Kona-the Kohala Coast. Some last minute must see's while here. Go to the farmer's market on the weekend and get all your fresh fruits and veggies for the week. They also have some great local crafts, leis, etc. and some good gift ideas to take home. Make sure you take a visit to the Painted Church-very beautiful and unique. If you want a good dinner go to Hugo's which is right on the water and you will probably see some manta rays while dining. If you want a less formal dinner or a good lunch right on the beach you can go to Hugo's on the Rocks. Very casual and good for a drink and some pupu's. You can get some great plate lunches in some of the "out of the way" shopping centers and take with you on your day out. You can also rent (right in town) your snorkel, boogie boards, etc. for the week to just keep in your car when you find the perfect spot. Pick up an expensive ice chest anywhere to fill with snacks and drinks during your drive. If you buy some of the straw beach mats, check with your local hotel if you don't want to take them home as they now have some locals that are making some great purses, etc. with the mats that you don't want to take home.
