St. Lucia-Caribbean-West Indies

This HAS to be my favorite of all the Caribbean islands; so beautiful and one of the most unspoiled islands in the Caribbean. Castries, where most will fly into is a great place to start your vacation. There are great open air markets with an assortment of fruits, vegetables and also local craftsman. This island is known for its 12 different types of bananas! There is so much to see from the awesome twin Pitons (mountains) which range from 2460 to 2620 feet above sea level to the beautiful emerald sea. The people are warm and friendly and willing to share their knowledge of the island and believe me they know the history from the French to the British to the Arawak and Carib Indians.
You can walk the paths of history to Fort Rodney and when you arrive at the top you will have an amazing view of Rodney Bay and on a clear day you can see Martinique. We journeyed off to the Pitons for a mud bath and a great local lunch. The villages along the way were quaint and colorful and stopping to visit with the locals was such a joy.
There are 3 Sandals properties on this island, each with their different locales and yet able to visit each when you stay at one. There are also some extremely luxurious resorts as well with views that are simply breathtaking. This island is definitely a honeymooners delight-with Sandals Grande soon to have over the water bungalows. Can't wait! There are many resorts for families as well. You just can't go wrong staying on this emerald gem of an island.
