Bracing for Turbulence

There is a rise in airfares and ancillary fees and now some organizations such as ASTA are working on improving flying. U.S carriers have restructured to try to keep up with rising fuel costs, carry on baggage charges, holiday surcharges, priority check in, seats with more leg room, etc. We have to realize this and not think of last years prices; however, there are still some good vacation packages out there. Be a little more flexible with your travel dates, if possible and be realistic in your vacation; ie; expectations versus budget. The department of transportation is working on making the cost of the entire trip known before purchasing a ticket. Airfares are expected to increase in the US and Canada by 1-3% for business class and about 2-4% for shorter flights and there will be continued airline efforts to drive customers away from comparative shopping and more towards the airline websites. Best to work with a travel agent as there will be more traveler confusion.
