Today we will finish the magical isle of Maui. We have been up country Maui and Hana(the road with 600 curves and 54 bridges) and now will concentrate on beach/hotel locations. There are hotels to fit every budget and remember, you are on an island so there might be a few bugs, geckos, etc. just remember, you are bigger than they are! If you have children a good beach is Baby Beach wich is in the Lahaina area and has calmer beaches than most. If you have older kids Black Rock at Kaanapali Beach is a good beach. Also, make sure to start informing your children at a young age to respect Hawaiin culture and the precious ecosystem, especially the coral reefs. The petroglyphs are awesome, but just make sure you look and not really rub on them. The Iao Valley is located in central Maui and is a great state park to have an easy hike by the stream and great picnic area. The famous Iao Needle stands 1,200 feet.
Kaanapali seems to be the most favorite area for a hotel stay as it is centrally located to shopping, nightlife, beaches. For your luxury hotels you would head south to Wailea, Makena area which is warmer, drier, a little more windy but some good snorkeling and lots of turtles. If you don't stay there at least walk through the Grand Wailea-very beautiful. Up towards Kapalua area you can do a great zip lining tour, helicopter tour of the West Maui Mountains and wonderful waterfalls.
A couple great finds in condos are the Mana Kai which is on a great mile long swimming beach and fills up quickly and the Maui Kai which just was refurbished and are all oceanfront. That's all from the island of Maui. Next we are off to Kauai-the garden isle.
Aloha
