OAHU the gathering place. My first visit to Oahu was in the 60's (yikes) and what a change from then to now. I actually got to go as a guest with my friend Sandi. We learned to surf, got rescued by Rabbit Kekai (very famous surfer), saw Don Ho, got sunburned and just had a blast! Oahu has it all, from the busy Waikiki area to the beautiful North Shore. Don't let people talk you out of this island as it has so much to offer. You have history (Pearl Harbor), culture (Bishop musuem), arts, beautiful waterfalls, great hiking, surfing, snorkeling etc. The food is wonderful and you have to try the plate lunches (chicken, fish, pork or beef, with macaroni salad and rice). That will take care of you for awhile! The hotels in Waikiki, which are plenty, fit into every need and budget while the North Shore offers the awesome Turtle Bay Resort; the only resort on this side of the island. Tomorrow we will review some tour ideas, family programs and the "must sees".
Aloha
